Summary

Part of a package of three bills to implement a national consumer credit regime, the bill: establishes a licensing regime for persons who engage in credit activities through an Australian Credit Licence to be administered by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission; applies conduct obligations on licensees; establishes a civil penalty and consumer remedy framework; and provides consumer access to a three-tiered dispute resolution process for credit issues.
